Starting a web project can be unpredictable when working with someone new. You don't always know what to expect from your designer or what questions to ask up-front.
To let you know exactly how I operate, I have compiled a simple list of action steps that cover the creation of a website from beginning to end.
ONE
Get in touch with me! You can use my
contact form (preferred), email me directly at info@stephaniehenderson.com, or leave me a voicemail at 724.875.7673. I will do my best to get back to you within 24 hours.
TWO
After introductions, we will schedule a time to talk on the phone or sit down together and discuss what your site is for, what you want it to communicate, its intended audience, any colors or design elements you have in mind, etc. etc. The more detail, the better. I will bounce my initial impressions and ideas off of you, and hopefully we will come to a solid conclusion of the look and function you're after.
THREE
If you are feeling good and confident at the end of the first meeting, or if later you decide you'd like to move forward, we will agree on what services you will need and the price, your payment schedule (generally 50% up front and 50% at completion, dependent on the time span), as well as any applicable deadlines. At this time a contract will be signed (in person or electronically) to ensure we are both on the same page and there are no surprises.
FOUR
I will ask that you supply me with any logos, photos, or text copy that you intend to use for the site.
FIVE
Then the fun starts! I will use all of the information we've discussed to draw up a really great design for your site. I will send this to you in image form to get your feedback and make any minor changes you suggest. According to the services you've purchased, I may give you a few different design concepts to start out or completely overhaul this one at your request.
SIX
Once the design is fully agreed upon, I will code the whole thing out and send it to you for your approval. Again, minor changes will be made. It is exciting at this point, though, to see it in its "actual" state with working links and animation.
SEVEN
Finally, I will ask you for your domain and/or hosting information so I can make the project live in the correct location. If you do not have a third-party domain or host (or if you have no idea what I'm talking about), I will set these up for you.
EIGHT
And then we launch! The final payment is made at this time, and I will go over with you how to use any necessary applications, such as your new Content Management System (which is a breeze to learn, by the way!).
- That sounds pretty easy, right?
