The Ting Tings: Katie White

Katie White of The Ting Tings

Since being nominated for Best New Artist at this past year’s Grammy awards, it’s obvious that the Ting Tings are beginning to make waves in the US. And as the lead singer, we’ll definitely be seeing more of Katie White in the upcoming months. The up-tempo, quirky music that The Ting Tings release is the stuff of expressive freedom. If you haven’t checked it out yet, it is definitely worth the listen.

So who is Katie anyway? Where did she come from?

According to The Ting Tings Official Website

Katie grew up on a livery farm outside Manchester, where, she says, “It’s so cold and so boring that there’s nothing to do. So all you do is sit and make music. It’s just grey skies. I really did just spend my entire childhood bored. I listened to really rubbish music growing up, don’t know why. Bad music, bad pop. Whatever crap was on the local radio. I grew up as a teenager in the 1990s so girl bands and boy bands were all the rage. I had a Spice Girls pencil case.”
